Our friends over at Auto Finesse have pulled the covers off their latest project car, a Pandem GR Yaris.

Over at Auto Finesse HQ, something rather special has been brewing. The renowned detailing firm is well-known for its retro modified motors (Check out this R32 GT-R and Volkswagen Caddy, for example), but now they’ve turned their attention to something new.

A rally-bred hot hatch, the Toyota GR Yaris immediately won the hearts of the motoring press when it was launched, and due to the hype that swirled around the car, it wasn’t long before aftermarket parts started to enter the market.

One of the most sought-after examples of this was the Pandem widebody kit – after all, if the Pandem Lab does a kit for your car, that practically certifies its ‘icon’ status.

Naturally, one of those kits was high on Auto Finesse’s shopping list when the design plans for this car were first drawn up. In the end, they managed to source one from German supplier, Tofu Garage, but it wasn’t long before the team started picking holes in it – quite literally!

James who heads the Auto Finesse team wasn’t too pleased with standard look and fitment of the kit, so, out came the workshop tools.

‘Who mods a Pandem?!’, you might be thinking. Well, the answer is these guys. The flares were widened and smoothed out, while a set of sideskirts and splitters were also added into the mix to create a silhouette that James was much happier with.

The guys at Auto Finesse now reckon that of all the Pandem GR Yaris builds out there, this one has the best fit and finish of them all – but then, they would say that, wouldn’t they.

With the widebody installed, the Yaris then got a full re-spray, before being wrapped in a motorsport-inspired livery. Rotiform, one of the car’s sponsors, then sorted the team out with a fresh set of rims.

Internally, the car is still a bit of a work in progress. The cabin has been decked out with some new bucket seats and a roll cage, while under the hood you’ll find a HKS intercooler and Pipercross induction kit. Fear not though, there’s still plenty to more to come from this build, with the Auto Finesse team having set the target of reaching 500hp. Watch this space…

For now though, this Pandem GR Yaris is still quite the spectacle in its current form, so to celebrate all the work that’s gone into it, Auto Finesse hosted its own launch party. Burgers, beers, doughnuts, and a prized collection of modified cars – sounds like a pretty good night out to us!
