JL Audio CP106LG-W3V3Sub of the Month – JL Audio CP106LG-W3V3

You know what they say about the best getting bigger and better? Well, in JL’s case, they get better and smaller – all thanks to this CP106 MicroSub. This baby is the little brother to the popular CP108 box we featured in the JL Scirocco a while back, and comes fully prepared to rock your ride with good looks and big bass. Check it out!

With 150 watts of bass, this beauty’s not shy, but the best bit is its size! The depth of the whole thing is literally the length of an iPhone, meaning it’ll take up approximately diddly squat space wherever you hide it in your ride! That doesn’t mean performance has been compromised either, as this CP106 rivals some 12-inch closures in delivery. So it’s as good as its bigger bro, but smaller – top work.

As well as being small, the CP106 looks proper tidy too, thanks to the ported box finished in high-grade black carpet with silver stitching for the JL logo. The steel mesh grille neatly hides the sub driver from the eye, and also protects it against any items knocking around in your boot too (the sub that is, not your eye!). This all means not only will you have a good time with the sub, you won’t be afraid to introduce it to your mates – win!

The top tech doesn’t stop with the box either – it’s specially designed with posh interior bracing which allows the use of thinner wall material, maximising the enclosure’s internal volume relative to its exterior volume. The port also wraps around two walls of the enclosure to produce the necessary low tuning frequency to provide excellent extension and response smoothness. Top science.

So how is the sub capable of such good power? The key lies in both the subwoofer driver and box design of the CP106. The subwoofer driver is actually JL’s famous 6W3v3 unit, which gives great punch for its 6.5-inch size, and is made with only the best parts – including a mineral-filled polypropylene cone and nitrile-butylene rubber surround. It even sounds good on paper, eh?!

You’ve read all about it and will no doubt want one for yourself, but don’t hang around – these subs are so damn popular, our mates at Celsus sold 100 of ‘em in their first week of release alone! So, don’t hang about: hit the JL website and invest before the lot disappears for good! Hurry!
