Dodge has unveiled its latest creation available to purchase for engine swaps. This is the 800bhp Hellcrate Redeye engine and is yours for a cool $22,000.

Dubbed the “Hellcrate Redeye” thanks to its placement in the Dodge Charger Hellcat Redeye, it differs from the already-available “Hellcrate” from the regular Hellcat by getting a bigger 2.7-litre supercharger instead of the 2.4, which is in turn run at higher boost, as well as receiving forged pistons, conrods and crankshaft. This pushes power to an eyewatering 796bhp and 717lb ft.

But, the new 800bhp Hellcrate Redeye Engine isn’t Mopar’s most powerful engine, that title belongs to behemoth Hellephant crate engine, which delivers a cool 1000bhp and 950lb ft of torque, enough to force the Earth to spin the other way, then… That all comes at a cost though, if you want the more powerful Hellephant crate engine, expect to pay $30,000.

You can also order transmission parts, but that will be extra. As part of that crate, you get the supercharger, throttle body, fuel injectors, coil packs, water pump and a flexplate. So pretty much everything you need for a direct engine swap. You’ll then need to think about a gearbox that can cope with either the 717lb ft in the 800bhp Hellcrate Redeye Engine or the whopping 950lb ft in the Hellephant crate.

Either way, it’s an exciting time for ICE fans as not only has Dodge added to its crate engine lineup, but so has Ford, offering the 760hp, 5.2-litre, supercharged V8 Predator engine from the Shelby GT500 as a crate package.
