In April 1989, the first ever MX-5 rolled off the production line. Little did Mazda know this would be the birth of one of the world’s most popular cars.
Fast-forward 22 years to 2011 and the MX-5 set a new record when total production surpassed 900,000 units and was certified by the Guinness World Records as the world’s “Best selling two-seater sportscar”.
Sales of the world’s most popular roadster continue to grow with the latest model, the popular fourth-generation ND, and on April 22nd 2016 Mazda produced the 1,000,000th Mazda MX-5. That’s right 1 million MX-5s!
So to celebrate Japfest Rock are putting on a celebratory 40-car display with the MX5OC, with 10 cars from every generation of the MX-5 on show on Sunday 26th June at Rockingham Speedway.
