It’s hard to believe, but I’ve owned the A6 for nearly 6 months already. Unfortunately though, progress on the modifying side of things has been quite slow. My excuse? Well, it’s mainly been down to a lack of funds. However it’s now full steam ahead, so much so I’ve bought two sets of wheels in the space of a month, one set for winter and one set for show season.
Show season is a way off yet, so my priority this month was sorting out my winter rims. Originally I was going to keep it OEM and opt for some 19-inch Audi RS4 wheels, but whilst searching a wellknown auction site I came across some 8.5×19 BBS CH wheels.
The seller prewarned me they’d need some work as there were plenty of scuffs, damage and one wheel had two small hairline fractures, but this was reflected in the price. Anyway, I decided to go ahead and make the purchase.
Once they were in my possession, my next job was to drop them to off to the crew at Platinum Alloy Wheel Solutions in Swindon. These guys have over a decade of experience in alloy wheel refurbishment repairs and came highly recommended by a couple of recent feature car owners.
After a quick chat with their main man Scott Jones and a tour of their impressive unit and facilities I knew they were the people for the job. All that was left to do was choose a nice colour, a sweet finish and then leave it to them.
Fast-forward a week and it was time to collect my wheels. Excitedly I arrived and was shown the finished wheels. I was so shocked, as the once battered and bent BBS CHs were looking better than new in their gloss black – a real testament to the work of Platinum Alloy Wheel Solutions.
Top work guys! So if you’ve wrecked your wheels, want a change of colour or fancy bringing a set of used or tired-out rims back up to standard give these guys a call. Trust us, you will not be disappointed.
