Children across the country go back to school this week, but in less than a fortnight it’ll be time to go back to old school, with a stand-off between some of the fastest old and new Fords at an event that celebrates the best of both.
It’ll be tuned Sierras versusfFlaming Focuses and angry Anglias against feisty Fiestas on September 18th, as FordFest returns to the world famous Santa Pod drag strip in Podington, Beds.
The day will feature a Ford-only version of its renowned ‘Run What Ya Brung’ days on the strip, with a number of head-to-head battles between classic Fords and their fast modern equivalents.
After an amazingly successful first year, FordFest, jointly backed by Fast Ford and Classic Ford magazines, is set to round off an amazing season of shows for fans of the Blue Oval. The magazines will be instrumental in pitting the best old school Fords against those that have yet to start primary school in a battle between old and new, to determine whether it’s classic Fords or just plain fast ones that dominate the drag strip. Tickets to take part are just £10 for camping visitors, or £20 for four runs on the day of the show .
But it’s not just the on-strip action that’s guaranteed to draw the crowds. From Anglias to Zodiacs, via Mondeos and Mustangs, Fords of all eras will be on display as both club and individual entries.
As well as the ‘Run What Ya Brung’, the drag strip will also play host to Fireforce 3, Santa Pod’s very own Jet Car, capable of a sub-six second quarter mile and speeds in excess of 300mph.
A substantial retail village, full of new and used parts, clothing and souvenirs is a major draw to the show, with camping available from midday on Saturday September 17, a bar and DJ, visitors can expect a party atmosphere.
Other highlights include the massively entertaining Drift Trikes (at just £10 a go), Monster Truck rides, a Show and Shine, entrance photography by Photography UK and stands from the leading Ford titles, Fast Ford and Classic Ford, with some very special exhibits that will be announced nearer to the day.
There’ll also be the chance to win a Ford Focus ST. Tickets to win the car have been for sale at all Ford events throughout the year, and will be at FordFest, with the draw to find the winner taking place live at the show.
FordFest is part of a family of Ford events celebrating Europe’s love for the famous blue oval brand, including the, Classic Ford Show, The Ford Summer Festival and Ford Fair.
