Twin-V8 Supercharged Ford Model T
Make: Ford
Model: Model T
FUCKING HELL! Sorry about the swearing for those under 18 years old, but that’s just about everyone’s reaction to seeing Gordon Tronson’s twin V8 powered Ford Model T. To be fair, my response was even more ruder than that, but seriously, have you ever seen anything like this before?
Gordon’s a genuine, 1,000% petrol head; in fact, he must be one of the biggest car fanatics in the world. So in some ways it’s no surprise he’s ended up building this 1,007bhp twin 4.6-litre Ford-powered nutter mobile.
He’s originally from New Zealand, and was a big part of the bike, Rod and Custom scene before moving to Canada where he ran a Top Alcohol Funny Car, before running out of money. You see what I mean about petrol head?
Then Gordon began building Lamborghini Countach replicas with a mixture of Corvette and Porsche running gear. They were top quality but someone, possibly with a name like Don Finchenzo, got a bit upset and shut him down in a 5-millon dollar law suit back in 1990.
So he started – and still has – a successful telecoms and electrical business which has enabled him to build rides like this T-Bucket.
Having made Lambo replicas for years, the T was a doddle. It was totally built from scratch with just an idea, no drawings, no models, just his experience and the motivation he was creating something truly unique. Gordon started by placing the two V8s on boxes next to each other to fabricate the chassis around them. The V8s are joined together with a high-tech Gates Poly Chain Carbon belt and sprocket drive that chucks over 1,000 supercharged horses into the Ford C5 gearbox.
With the drivetrain mated up, Gordon got on with easy stuff, like respraying the fibreglass T-body in Candy blue, fitting out the leather interior and bolting on the unshy Billet Specialities rims covered in Mickey Thompson rubber. All in, it took Gordon less than six months to hand-build one of the most mental machines that’s ever rolled on the Earth’s crust.
