Matthew Slinn's modified Mk6 Ford Fiesta
There’s no hiding it, Facebook is taking over the world. Not only does it allow you to perve over your best mate’s little sister, keep you up-to-date with your buddies and see what the FC boys are up to, but in the case of Matthew Slinn, it now also helps you decide how to modify your car.
While Facebook may seem like an odd place to be discussing mods and asking for opinions, it really is the best way to brainstorm those crazy ideas out in the open for everyone’s input. Before Matt knew it, he had a bag full of ideas to be picked from.
The wheels and coilovers were first on the list. Matt knew he had to be riding low and got sharply on the case of the AP coilovers and set about fitting them. When it came to choosing the wheels, though, things weren’t as easy. Searching for wheels and asking for opinions started to seem like hassle for Matt, until he came across a set of Borbet A hoops. He soon realised that the fitment was totally wrong and unsuitable. Arse. After settling for a different set of wheels, he ordered them through specialist Rimstyle. The guys told him the new wheels would take over seven weeks to get to him. Double arse! A quick discussion later, though, Matt was told that Borbet now made wheels to fit Fords and were available for delivery. Once they’d arrived and were promptly fitted, it was time to add pictures to his profile and show off his triumph.
There, one of his pals soon did a quick Photoshop of how the car would look with some minor body tweaks. The picture got several presses of the ‘like’ button, and so Matt got in touch with a local bodyshop for an overhaul. The boot lid was debadged, the rear wiper removed and the rear bumper treated to some smoothing.
Matt asked his pals what he should do next with his engine bay and interior. After some pretty ridiculous ideas, he spotted a little gem… paint flicking. a crazy idea to paint the engine covers a lairy colour then attack it with flicked paint seemed a little far-fetched, but Matt gave it a go. Someone else mentioned a stealth build, so Matt built up a false floor and had his mum trimming it in leather ready to make the Hi Fonics sub and Kenwood amplifier look pretty.
Matt’s last status was “Matthew Slinn is looking for interior ideas”. And knowing Matt and his mates, things could get very interesting…
