Modified Renault Clio 2010-06-30
Waseem Hanif's modified Renault Clio takes it
Just over a year we met a slickly dressed fella named Waseem Hanif who approached us telling saying he’d just built an awesome ‘Euro-styled’ Renault Clio. Slightly sceptical, we asked him for a picture, but what we was about to see was to set a new standard for the UK car scene.
Waseem’s bro Raymond of Eccentrik Designs tells me: “I wanted to build a non-VAG car that would give the Belgians a run for their money. I’d never seen an all-out ‘Euro’ Clio in the UK before so I decided to build one.” This guy has absolutely nailed it too, and done everything he’d set out to achieve – and then some!
Over the next year we watched this awesome Clio evolve into something even better. First an amazing leather re-trim graces the interior, then a new set of very tasty wheels even crazier than the last appear on the car. Waseem admits none of this would have been possible without bodyshop expert Raymond, who pretty much led the project, but it just shows that having the eye for detail and the balls to be different can pay off massively in the end. Awesome.
Top 5 Clio Mods
1. Smooth Bumper
One of the most talked-about features, the completely smoothed bumper makes the front end moody as hell.
2. Two-Tone Leather
The super-fresh brown and beige combo is a refreshing change from all the one-colour interiors.
3. Deep Purple
Inspired by chocolate – a great reason for a killer mod – this custom purple paint job suits the Clio’s lines down to a tee.
4. Wide Wheels
Some have it, our Midge doesn’t: huge 10x16in rear wheels means just over four inches of cold-hearted dish for a full-on win!
5. Bullet Mirrors
The bargain ‘Bullet’ wing mirrors are usually found on classic Minis, but look right at home on Waseem’s Clio.
