Essex Cruise Crackdown
Locals join forces with Essex Police in war against cruisers
Police in Basildon, Essex, are aiming to join forces with local companies in a new crackdown on cruisers.
The NAP (Neighbourhood Action Panel) has been set up by the police in conjunction with local businesses with the aim of giving locals a combined channel to tackle cruisers.
Essex Police have stated the NAP will find solutions for: “problems such as criminal damage, speeding, littering and urinating.”
PCSO Gary Newton who has been heading up the campaign said: “Car cruising is a very anti-social thing and can often be quite dangerous. Police cannot be everywhere in the Basildon district day and night. By bringing all local agencies and the affected businesses together, we can have a realistic and united stance against this type of anti-social behavior. “
He added: “There is a time and a place for cruising, and that is on a race track. We are taking a robust stance against it in this area, so if you are caught breaking the law, expect to be dealt with.”
